Migrating files and services
from NetWare to OES2/Linux
The matter of migrating users, files, access rights, and services
is important as we transition to Linux. We consider both NSS and
POSIX files systems on Linux. The most sensitive migration step
is moving eDirectory contents from one server to another to preserve
all identities. This two day course is designed to address each
of these areas in detail, with many practical experiments.
Attendees will be given NetWare 6.5 SP8 and OES2 SP1 Linux servers
running in VMware. The experiments will explore a variety of methods
of migrating services and files, concentrating on the OES2 Linux
tools and including rsync, JRBUtilities, Novell's SCMT utility.
By the end of the course delegates will have completed a migration
of eDirectory contents, files, trustee rights, and most major OES2
utilities. They will have a good understanding of the strengths
and weakness of each file and trustee migration method.
