Novell Technical Update
– two day seminar
The TTP are pleased to be able to announce that they have brought
together four experienced Novell users to pass on their knowledge
to you concerning the interactions and workings of Novell’s
latest products. Starting on the 19th June there will be four two
day seminars run for the TTP in various locations across the USA.
The locations will be announced after BrainShare and will be chosen
from the results of the questionnaire asking for advice on the most
convenient locations. The event will run from 9 to 5 each day and
have two parallel sessions running throughout. The topics to be
covered in the event are listed below. The cost of attendance will
be $350 per person.
Further details and booking forms will be
available after BrainShare.
Proposed session titles in no particular order:

Manager. Exploit eDirectory with LUM, PAM, LDAP and NSS services
to unite user's credentials for most common applications (http,
telnet, ssh, ftp, NCP, etc) and offer real privacy.
(2) Virtualization brought down to earth. Look
at the nifty XEN support in SUSE Linux and at VMware. Discuss what
works well, what needs help (time keeping, NetWare DOS partitions),
and what we ought to think about twice.
(3) File systems, which to choose and why. A light
weight but technical review of Linux file systems and NSS, plus
shadow volumes, with a view of choosing the right kinds for the
tasks at hand.
(4) Migration from NetWare to Linux. We discuss
several tool sets and several scenarios for movement, including
user file store, user credentials, and services.
(5) Patching and updating SUSE Linux. There are

of Novell's T&C product plus what we might do similarly with
open source services.

your environment at a minimal cost.

outside NetWare and SUSE.

File System Factory, backup and migration.

management needs to know.

now. Introduction on setup, configuration and management of Imaging.
