Migration from NetWare 6.5 to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server

There as been a lot of discussion about migrating from NetWare 6.5 to SUSE Enterprise Linux Server (SLES). The course has been designed for people with computing knowledge but little or no experience with Linux administration. People attending are asked to bring their own laptop computer to take part in hands-on exercises that are a large part of the course. The course is three days and examples will relate to the academic environment. It is a hands-on course and will cost $650 for the three days.

 

Course Content

- Course Introduction
- What is Linux – including brief history, Open Source and Distribution options
- Describe OES 2 – What is it, who uses it and why do I need it
- Comparisons between NetWare and SLES and their distinct differences
- NetWare Services that should be installed vs migrated to SLES 11
- Discuss migration tools and other options to move files and services from NW to SLES 11
- Prepare and install SLES 11
- Review, Plan then Do the Migration from NetWare 6.5 to SLES 11
- Compare common utilities between NetWare and SLES 11
- Review and use common OES2 management tools
- Discussion on Novell services (ZEN, Groupwise, IDM, Sentinal, PlateSpin, NSM, Etc)
- Discussion on sponsor products.
