With the advent of Novell’s purchase of SUSE and XIMIAN, combined with their more traditional offerings, network development has never before covered such a wide spectrum. STAG has been established as a forum to enable technical computing staff to exchange ideas and to learn from and help each other.

With representatives from the diverse user communities a steering committee has been formed comprising:

Alan MacDonald (Stirling Council) – Chairman and local government
John O’Reilly (Morton Fraser) – Secretary and corporate
Andy Swiffin (University of Dundee) – Academic institutions
Peter Atkins (Mindworks Inc Ltd) – Event organisation and website

The committee also gratefully acknowledge James Stewart (Novell) and Tim Heywood (NDS8) for their continued assistance and support for the group.

User driven technical events are to be held throughout the year. With members being able to contribute their own experiences the group provides the opportunity for information economy, why reinvent the wheel. The meetings aim is to stimulate discussion and to encourage knowledge transfer throughout the community. A closed discussion list will be provided for members of the group.
